Neelathaamra - Short and Simple but ........

The last one month didnt see much of better outings in the silver screen and that was why broken lenses was a bit idle.2012 was a movie that i wanted to review on but after watching which I didnt feel it had anything new from the many disaster based english movies we saw before(except for the graphics work of course).

Neelathamra would have been the perfect movie to be............. reviewed after the gap but unfortunately it falls behind expectations.Well you cant be blaming someone for scaling up the benchmarks of his expectations when the Veteran MT Vasudevan Nair scripts for the ever promising director of the new age era of malayalam Lal Jose.
Neelathamra has already graced the screen around 35 years back and might be the first one to present such a plot, but thereafter many a movies of the same kind has been tested time and again with the same set of audience.

Neelathamara is all about a short visit to Kunjimaaloos love life.Kunji is another one of those many household attendant characters to assist a lonely mother (Malu Amma).Haridas ,the son of Malu Amma is back to his hometown after completing his studies.Haridas plays a false love plot to impress kunjimalu. An innocent Kunjimalu finally falls for him after a lot of confusions and mental struggles in her and as expected the hero finally succeeds in having her beside, in his bed.Any Guess on what the next scene is??,Haridas's uncle comes with a proposal for Haridas with his daughter.(I bet you guessed it!!) A shrewd Haridas finally manages to see Kunjumalu off and bissfully gives in for the marriage.Thereafter its all about Samvrutha realizing the pre marital relation of her husband forcing Kunjimalo to leave the house.Well Literally that's the end of the movie.Like the many others watching the name Lal Jose appear at the final shot i too was surprised on the purpose of the movie.

Neelathamara conveys all it has in the first 5 minutes itself...the rest 1 hour 35 mins is just an elaboration of the first five minutes. No surprises, nothing too dramatic or eventful awaits the viewer to match to his expectations.Might be that MT and Lal Jose wanted to keep it very mild and simple. On the postive side the movie still registers full house on account of its melodious songs from Vidyasagar - Vayalar team. The song Anuraga vilochana aayi was recieved with terriffic applause and cheers.Lal Jose shots were really aesthetic and succeded in working out the nostalgic factor in the viewer.New face archana kavi does a splendid performance considering it was her first outing .Others including the hero Haridas portrays credible enough performances through their characters.

On the Whole : A simple movie which doesnt differ a bit from the expected lines. Approach it the way you approach a Short story.Dont expect the MT - Lal Jose Magic on the screen.
