Cheran's Pokkisham Review

Pokkisham (meaning treasure),the lastest attempt from Cheran tells a failed love tale of Nadeera(padmapriya) and Lenin (Cheran) , a love story that blossomed during the 70's and struggled to make its way through with letters being the only mode of communication then. The story begins with Lenin's son getting a chance to go through the letters and diaries of his late father which depicts the flash back.Lenin the high morale ideal guy hero (typical of cheran movies) happens to meet Nadeera in a

hospital where his father and her mother are recovering in neighbouring beds.Their love of books brings them closer with Lenin trying to teach her the relevance of communism then. The movie then drags on to a rather uninteresting plot with most of the dialogues being the insipid recital of the duo's letter contents. This goes on and on monotonously with poetic dialogues and comparisons with nothing much to glueyou to your seats.

Though from different religious back grounds both the families agree to go with their wish as Nadeeras father agrees for the marriage after some gap.But soon Lenin finds himself crazy with Nadeera not writing to him anymore. He shows symptoms of mental break down and decides to go to her hometown to know what had happened to her.Lenin fails to find her due to lack of communication gadgets during that time and finally ends up in another marriage.Inspired with the tale Lenins Son finally set out to search Nadeera out and he succeeds within a short span thanks to the modern technical gadgets.

Though Cheran has tried to convey a simple scoop of yesteryear romances that could have failed just due to the lack of communication options ,his degree of success falls low mainly due to a stuffy colourless tale.Cheran,Padmapriya and all other main leads (there are only a few) have done their roles well enough though the predictability of the scenes and the over use of poetic dialogues might irk you.Direction ,story n screenplay falls behind, letting down the movie.Songs also did not impress at the first hearing.Positivewise one could say there werent any unwanted crass comedy scenes injected in between....

My Verdict : Boring.........
