RobinHood--Doesnt impress much -- Review

RoibinHood Review

Joshiys Robinhood is a movie with a thief as the central character and as the name suggests his thefts are justified by some incidents of his past life.Having called him a thief,i should admit that he is more than that.Having seen many theif based movies Roibn hood is different in the sense that its more more of a high tech robbery with some of the scenes trying to explain us the possibility of the robbery happening.Venkat (Prithviraj) is a tutor in an....... entrance coaching centre during the morning hours while the night sees him busy robbing the ATM bracnhes of a particular bank in Kochi.

The bank Director Mr Menon(Biju Menon) isnt quite amused by the below average computer educated police investigation(headed by Jayasuryaas character) appoints a private detective in the form of Narien.Prithvi Narein and bhavana (banks correspondant in the case)happen to stay on the same flat and ends up being good friends.Without mutually exposing their inner characters, its a cat and mouse game till interval. The first half also sees Sachi Sethu(Scripters)trying to explain the scientific side of how the 16 digit secret numer could possibly be sniffed.Though the possibility of such a device both on technical-infrastructure grounds might not impress the technocrats ,this might be enough to get the common cinegoers attention.Though the first half did not bore much there wasnt much intense gripping scenes ,or were there any proper comedy track to arouse some response among the audience.

The second half of the movie as can be guessed reveals the past of the robber(as seen many a times in cinemas he too is from a brahmin background).More twists follow at the climax and it ends wihtout arousing the viewers much ....

The main draw back was that despite being a multistarrer the movie rarely has scenes for the audiece to clap for(except for intros).None of the songs were impressive to the ears despite being glitzy.Joshiy has tried to make Roihood as racy as possile though it lacks some engrossig scenes.Main leads including Narein,Prithvi,Bhavana has has done their part well though their characters are more based on style than substance.Samvrutha plays a minor role just to create some confusion.Salimkumar is wasted.bGM by Raajmani is perfect enough for a movie like this.Sachi Sethu deserves credit in having tried to convince the audience on the scientific side of things too.(Despite these efforts one would feel why is it that the police dont try the cameras to track everyone that enters the ATM instead of turning on the camera only when a card is inserted? This would have allowed the thief to mask the camera only after entering the ATM) other than this they have failed to pack up the movie with thrills and wits that could have made it more acceptable.

My Verdict :Nothing Special.......
