Kaanakanmani Review - Different concept But....

After the success of Veruthe oru Bhaarya Akku Akbar-Gireeshkumar Jayaram Team is back with another product that promises much with its difference in concept but mostly falls apart in the later part.
Jayarams character, a Thrissur based Nasraani is leading.......... a happy family life with his Brahmin wife(padmapriya) and their only daughter Anakha. The first 30 minutes evokes laughter mainly with The Hindu - Christian Gods being interpreted on a funny note.Just when the comdey chemistry between the two families based on different religious backgrounds starts to work out the movie slowly takes a turn to the serious side of things.Anakha goes missing during a felicitation function and when found , she starts showing behavioural changes.Mystery accompanies her till interval where she finally reveals to their parents what has actually happened to her.

The first half left me impressed with a bit of entertainment to start with and some sequences which though typical , were scary. Might be due to Jayrams presence in the spooky misty atmosphere one could relate some frames to the movie Winter. The second half begins with a song and takes you to an awareness program type of scenarios. There after the movie is much focused on working out sentiments ,though Suraj appears in between with a comedy track tailor made for him. Finally the result is that plot proceeds and ends without creating much of an impact except for some lady audience shedding tears with the kid.

Performance wise initially its Vijayaraghavan who steals the show excelling in the role of a trichur slang speaking achaayan (as jayarams Characters father ).The latter part of the movie is carried forward by the kids performance.Others like Jayaram,Padmapriya,Sukumari,Biju Menon,Nedumudi,Suraaj etc. has got to do routine stuffs that they execute well enough.Directionwise ,the second half could have been told in a more convincing and interesting way.The loop holes in the script made it worser.Music is OK with one song being a good melody.

On the whole:Concept wise its different ,execution wise doesn't impress much .
